CALA/NE Chapter Summer Program

Theme: "Facets of the Chinese Culture – Meet the Chinese-American Authors"
Date: June 2, 2007 (Saturday)
Time: 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Location: Chatham Square Branch of the New York Public Library in Chinatown, NY

The detailed program agenda is as follows:
1st Speaker: Mr. Hanson Chan, writer of Chinese novels and screenplays.
Topic: The historical background of Hanson Chan’s "Hua Hu (化胡)" series.
Time: 2:00 pm – 2:45pm

2nd Speaker/Performer: Prof. Sheau-yueh Janey Chao, Professor of Newman Library of Baruch College/City University of New York.
Topic: "From Silk Road to the Yee Family of Arabic Origin". The Silk Road and Prof. Chao’s family Heritage. She will also perform a belly dance after her short speech.
Time: 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm

3rd Speaker: Dr. Renqiu Yu, Professor of History and Director of Asian Studies Program of SUNY-Purchase.
Topic: Introducing "Qing Ke (請客)", the new title by Dr. Yu.
Time: 3:45 pm - 4:30 pm

There will be a Get-together Dinner after the program held in Chinatown:

Date/Time: June 2, 2007, 5:30 pm
Location: Congee Village (粥之家) in Chinatown (in a private banquet room equipped with Karaoke).
