About Chinese American Librarians Association, Northern California Chapter (CALA-NCA) CALA has members in seven chapters throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan. CALA is an active affiliate of the American Library Association (ALA) and a member of the Council of National Library and Information Associations (CNLIA). In 1988, CALA established sister relations with the Library Association of Central Governments Units and Scientific Research Networks of Beijing, and with the Library Association of China in Taipei. CALA also exchanges publications with the East Asian Library Resources Group of Australia and many others.
The CALA California Chapter was divided into two chapters of Northern California Chapter (NCA) and Southern California Chapter (SCA) in July 2006. The geographic division between the North and the South is by the line on Luis Obispo and Bakersfield of California. Any new California members who live in the middle of the state and are uncertain which chapter they may join in, they may check the geographic convenience and voluntarily make decision on their own. |
